For the last few years Ive been pushing the first ice fishing outing back and back. From mid December Im use to having my first outing after Christmas. Last year with the cold blast I got out a few days after Christmas and we had new years eve skating the bay. This year looks like I may have to adjust my Christmas fishing a bit. Instead of loading the auger onto the four wheeler I am thinking of grabbing the fourteen foot tin can and the trolling motor. Im not sure if I really like this brown grass Christmas. My back doesnt miss shoveling but I sure miss the snow. Hows the weather changing the fishing in your area?Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
Seems Im lucky enough to get rain forecasted for nearly every day I plan to fish . That didnt bother me at all when I was younger , but at this age it just isnt any fun to sit out in the rain anymore .
I have would never even have thought of fishing the Winter Bass O thons around here with out all my heavy warm gear. But this year I was in flip flops for the #2 event. WOW that just aint right!! Its like Florida weather with out all the biguns and grass..
It was 15 below zero a couple weeks ago, I have a foot of snow in the yard and close to another foot due tonight. My barn cat has fur 3 inches thick, my wood pile is going a lot quicker than I want, the deer are beating the heck out of my haystack. Pretty much a normal mountain winter in Montana.Last edited by mike dominick on December 21st, 2015, 10:56 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Calling for near or record high temps here on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Temps upper 70s and staying warm all weekend into next week. I will be fishing all weekend as I know winter weather will be here soon enough.
It all this global warming they have been promising all these years, Ill take it! Beats the hell outta all the snow the last couple of years.
Down there in Louisiana last year it got so cold that the local lake iced over. Bubba and Billy really wanted to go fishing after deer season was over and Bubba called Billy telling Billy all about how hed been watching The Outdoor Channel and about all the fish theyve been catching ice fishing. Bubba finally convinced Billy to go. So they swing by the bait shop and got a dozen minnows and 2 ice picks. The guy at the bait shop told them they were crazy, rung them up and off they went. About an hour later they came back in for another dozen minnows and 2 more ice picks. He thought “theyre crazy” and sent them on their way again. About an hour they showed back up again to the bait shop for another dozen minnows and 2 more ice picks. The man at the shop says “dang yall must be killing them!!”Bubba replied “We aint even got the boat in the water yet and the minnows keep freezing!!”Purchased new 5/4/15Bass Cat Sabre Vision EliteMercury Pro XS 150MotorGuide 75lb Tour EditionHumminbird – Stock (will be changing soon I hope)
