merc. that idles too high.

i have a 2009 200 opt. and i have been having problems. when im out fishing and i pull the shifter into neutral the engine will idle up too high.and when i running the boat at or around 3500 to 4000 rpm it will surge….i took into my dealer and they checked it out and they told me that mercury is having a problem with this and they had no fix…anyone else having this problem?

That is not a common problem and do you have a Hot Foot?

if you have a hot foot the then the throttle is not coming all the way back.

i do have a hot foot..they checked that and said it wasnt the problem…i is something with the motor..i can hit a trim switch and you can hear it try and idle down..but it will stay idling too high..i can turn it off and crank it back up and it will idle fine til the next time.

sounds to me like you need to find you another wrench if you current cant fix.
