This is from a professional detail site “The last step in the whole polishing procedure is to wipe the rim down with a flannel cloth and talcum powder; this will remove fingerprints and other contaminants and polish out any fine swirl marks” Talcum powder (baby powder) is the softest mineral known it is rated 1 on the mohs hardness scale. Talc is also not soluble in water, but takecare to not inhale it. Never know what else it might work on, but have used it several times to polish out metal parts at shop to get rid of marks on tooling before heat treating. Dont know about using it on fiberglass have never tried it.Hope this helps and Merry XMASS
Neat tip. Now if I could get to that point Id try it. I have the standard beadlock wheels on my 2012 Cougar. I spent the weekend cleaning and waxing the boat. I decided to work on the wheels and picked up a bottle of Mothers liquid polish. It said it was safe for all metals and even glass. Stopped by my dealer and the head wrench said those wheels were clear coated and not to use it. He said just wax them with the same wax I used on the boat. So can anyone tell me what works best for these type wheels? My wife thinks I spend too much time in the garage with the boat.
Those new rims you have appear to be clear coated Doug, but my eyes are going fast these days. At least mine look like it. The pre 2013s were definitely not clear coated. The best protection for any rim is to wipe them off when you pull the boat out of the water!
