I bought a Ram Eco Diesel. It is SWEET. Only had it a couple of weeks, so I have only pulled my Puma for a short haul of 40 miles round trip. Got 18.3 for the tow and it was still climbing per the computer. One trip of 220 miles no towing including some city driving I got 29.1. Rides like a magic carpet. If you havent driven a Ram in a few years and your in the market. Do yourself a favor and drive one. I drove the Ford Eco Boost and the Turndra (gave my son my Tundra), Ram blows them away. Gas or Eco Diesel.
Have had my 2014 GMC Sierra All Terrain with a 5.3 for almost a year. All the power could possibly need, great ride, feature rich, and between camp/home (115 miles one way) Im getting 21 plus MPG when not towing. Towing knocks MPG down to 14-15 mpg towing a classic dual axle. Loved my old 5.3s but this newly designed one is no slouch. My buddy has the hemi and loves it so I guess its all in who you trust. Kind of why we all found our way here….
I cant imagine any Hemi getting better mileage than a 5.3. My 08 Ram got 10-11 mpg, my 2011 Sierra gets 13. Both numbers pulling my Cougar FTD.
Weve discussed this before Billus. The new RAMS r different. My brother had an 05 with a Hemi and the mileage was not good. My 13 gets much better than his 13 Chevy.
My 04 a Hemi was a dog. I bought a Ranger in AR and towed it back to IL and thought it was going to die. The newer Hemis are much better; but they dont tow like a diesel does. Congrats on your new ECO diesel. I seriously considered one but Im not a fan of the Ram interiors. I lived my 07 Cummins 5.9 though; although it doesnt hold a candle compared to my 15 F350 King Ranch. I like the comfort with the power now lol.
IMO, the new Ram gets such good mileage because of the new 8 speed transmission. Drove both the 8 and the 6 speed earlier in the year and the 8 just works better with the Hemi. The Ram interior was one of my main selling points. Both me and the wife liked it best of the big 3. Especially the seats and the seat comfort.I hope I like it a lot more after 100,000 than I did my 2008 Chevy after 97,000. All new pistons and rings after 78,000 since it was burning over a quart of oil every 1000 miles (known issue with the 07-09 5.3s according to my dealer), all 4 power door locks replaced, 2 power window motors replaced, etc.Im not trying to bash any other brand, I think they are all good trucks and all will have about the same rate of issues across brands. I do think with the GM redesign the GMCs got better looking and the Chevys worse. Kinda like the first looks at some of the new Fords too.

I bought a new Ecodiesel also and now have 3000 miles on it in about a month. It is very nice and first Dodge I have had. Always thought Dodge was junk from what I heard. I am averaging 26.8 mpg mixed driving city and hyw with 4×4. I get 20 towing but I have small aluminum bass boat. I will say it is incredible and it is very quite and smooth ride. I drove all the new ones from GMC to Chevy to Ford to Tundra. It was the nicest to me but all were real close. I chose it mainly for the fuel mileage and hope it is good and doesnt have issues. So far it is good but too early. I put on 30k plus a year and only plan on keeping it a year maybe little longer then trade it for new smaller truck if they come back with the smaller trucks with smaller diesel. Or better v6 that gets better fuel. Between Tacoma, Ranger , Colorado, Canyon or Frontier when they come out with the new models next year if they ride good and great fuel too and can tow 5k then id rather still have a smaller truck for my garage and just parking and stuff. I dont think they will get as good as fuel as this one but maybe close. it is amazing. I think many of the smaller ones next year will get a 2.5 or 3.2 diesel in them getting 30 mpg.
