Newer gas Tanks

Guys,Im sorry if this is a dumb question but went to put gas in the boat todayand when I poped the cap there was quite a bit of pressure built up. This normal with the new type tanks??Thanks

I do not know about the newer ones but my old 2001 P3 will build up quite a bit when it is sunny and warm out.

An old P3 has a free flowing vent system. A newer EPA tank has a 1 lb. pressure relief that is holding that pressure you sense when opening the cap. 5% headspace for opacity, fuel demand valves, FLVV venting and pressure valves and more….

What year/ model did the newer tanks start being placed in the boats?
