BCB or Mercury Guys advice

Having an overheat alarm problem , but it seems it only goes off at odd times here is whats going on: 2008 Sabre FTD 175proxs – 40hrs – 25P Tempest analogue PSI = 2 at idle 14 at WOT Sometimes when new alarm would go off only when getting on plane -if I backed off the alarm would shut off- it seems like the PSI would drop way down then pick up when on plane. Took to my dealer and installed scoops which helped a little . 2 months ago it started happening again took it the dealer , they told me my PSI was fine and the impeller was good. Now it getting worse and my dealer just went out of business . Im in AZ so its hot to start but I still only get the alarm when trying to get on plane never at idle or no wake speed. Any ideas would be appreciated . Also I need a recommendation on where to take it in the PHX area. Thanks

It could be as Clint points out. It could be water in the fuel. It could be a bad temp sensor. Nice thing about having smart craft is it will take the guess work out of most problems. Good luck locating your problem.

14 at WOT WITH the scoops???? I have a 175 XS on a Sabre FTD sitting at 3.25″ below pad and I bet I have 25 PSI at WOT. As soon as I come up over 800 RPMs or so I pick up from 4 to 5 PSI at idle to 10ish. I am reading off digital with the analog link. Water temp will jump up too 158 as I come off plane from WOT to idle, they do run hot at idle but Ive NEVER got an overheat with the scoops installed and Ive been almost as high as you can go on the standard 6″ plate playing with props. Ive tried a 25 Tempist, 24 Tempist, and currently running a 25 Fury which is a great winter prop a tad to much blade for the summer. All around best so far is the 24 Tempist waiting to try a 24 Fury which should be perfect. I am hoping to test some of the TXP props on it as well. If you dont have some type of SC gage invest in one next time your at the dealer. After having the full SC1000 package I dont know if I could own another boat without full digital gages.

P.S. you are close enough tot he 50 hour point to go ahead and get the under cowl fuel/water seperator changed when you find a dealer. I did mine myself with a little *&^(&*%* LOL Its TIGHT in there!

The other guess I would have would be that the poppet valve is sticking. That could cause the alarm and low water pressure at WOT.

cncbass, Please have the dealer contact BCB and inform Ivan of what you are experiencing. Your options and issue will be addressed and we need to give them our input. Dont dally on this one, lays get them hooked up and get your fixed up. BCB.

Thats my problem – My dealer who I bought the boat from here in Phoenix has gone out of business . It doesnt appear that there is another dealer for BassCat within a 1000 miles.

Still contact Ivan and inform him. There are plenty of Merc dealers in the area and we have been in touch with a dealer there and possibly could help you out. Please do contact Ivan. While this is apparently an engine issue we are willing to take front seat on rectifying this and fronting things to get a start on a fix.

John: Where is your jackplate? I have mine about 1/8 higher than flush – I did raise it before about 1/2″ over flush , the boat ran better but I still got the alarms so I lowered it.
