Ive been playing with my rig, and Ive come to the conclusion that I have no idea what Im doing… I have a 2000 Cougar with a 200hp mercury EFI. When I got it, it had a 25 pitch Trophy Plus, it took a mile to get out of the hole, then I would get 63 mph at 5400 RPM, and a 15 rooster tail. I put a 23 pitch Trophy Plus on it, and it shot out of the hole, but was getting 55 mph at 6300 RPM and about a 10 rooster tail. I dropped the jackplate about 5/8″ and ran it this morning, now Im at 57 mph at 6000 RPM. What am I doing wrong, I dont want to pull to many RPM, but I dont want to completely loose my hole shot???
