Pro XS Head Temperature

Should there be a difference in the temperature of the heads between the port and starboard? Had my motor start overheating last weekend, sucked some junk up and had the alarm go off. Checked the filter today and cleaned it out. Put a hose in the flush out in the rear, and ran it for a bit. The port head got hot really quick, the starboard stayed cool to the touch. Is this normalAny thoughts?

One thermostat opening sooner than the other. Or one thermostat has trash in it and is staying open all the time. Just a guess.

Just from my previous experience if it were opening and staying open it would be running cool. It could have trash keep it from opening. Just had this battle. I would suggest pulling both thermostats and checking them along with the compressor screen. And if your like me and play around where this is likely plug the low water pick up off. Unless you drag race you dnt need it! I ordered mine from sherm. Where are the compressor screen /screens located , ie on the compressor / line or hoses on compressor ?

Lower left hand side . You have to remove the lower cowl. Simply follow the line coming from the compressor.keeping it clean of debri is the life of the compressor. Its easy! The screen is clean, thats what I pulled out and flushed. I presume a t-stat is stuck either open or closed. How hot should the motor run at normal operating temp?Sent from my SM-G930V using Yuku app

Mine run between 120 and 130. Not for sure but will look in my service manual but pretty sure stats open at 130. When I kept getting trash in my stats the motor would not get to temp. Service manual definitly says stats open at 130 degrees. Mine is a 2013 200. Do you have a monitor!. I know you said you ws checking to touch by hand.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury

Engine temp can be related to surface water temperature. Though usually somewhere between 110 and 140.

Thank you guys. Yes I ahve the merc monitors. I need to make a decision, pull the T-stats or send to the shop. Either way I guess im down for a minute.
