Courtesy “Flip Light” Inop – Removal ?

Yall – Ive got a couple of flip lights that are not working. How are they best removed from the gunwale? Dont want to break the light assembly in my process of trial & error…I searched this forum but couldnt find anything specific to how to remove the lights.Thanks much!Patrick

You should be able to pop them out using a flat head screwdriver or putty knife. Take your time and make sure you dont scratch the fiberglass. You may want to put a bead of silicone around it when you put it back in. It will help keep the water out if they are over your rod boxes.

What he said, thin flat head screwdriver see the “r” in the “here” in the pic Once out it looks like this. Be careful not to let the wires pull off back into the openings….note the housing stays in the gunnel so once you fix your wire or replace the bulb they pop right back in. What is the “LED replacement bulb” number for the flip lights and where do you order them from?

You can go to your local auto parts store or even Wal-Mart and get the LED replacement bulbs. Just have your old bulb with you to match the correct size.

you can put a bit of painters tape or duct tape down on the boat where you plan to pry them out as to not add ugly marks that will make you say ugly things.

make sure you put a bit of silicone back around the edges so water doesnt leak around them back into the rod boxes.

and then you have to drill holes in the rod lockers for crying out loud
