1993 mariner 200, Help

I took my 93 Pantera II out for the first time in 6 months. It ran great, but after about 15 minutes the alarm on the dash started going off. I shut down right away and started it back up. It ran for about 5 minutes then the alarm went off again and I noticed there was no water stream coming out of the motor. I did this several times, then finally the stream was comeing out and ran great for about 20 minutes. Then same thing, alarm and no stream. I ended up trolling back to avoid any damage to the motor. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Check the front of the throttle body area, and there is a very small, very small little LED light there that will have a faint glow with the key on. It is VERY hard to see, and if it has that faint glow, you have water in your fuel. That is our first suspicion. BCB

That would be great if thats all it is. I assumed it would be water pressuse since it was not shooting out that stream of water out the bottom of the motor. Should I see that stream when the motor is running? Ill check out the fuel this weekend. I do have Sta-bil in the fuel now. Can I add anything else or do I need to drain the tanks? Thanks for your help.

Is this an EFI engine? if so it has a screw on fuel filter on the engine (front right) that has a sensor in the bottom of it. You cna always remove the filter and dump out the contents to see if there is water in there and then replace it and it should stop the alarm. If it does simply buy another one and install on the engine to filter out water. Mike

Dont remove the filter and shake the trash up in there, remove the sensor in the bottom and drain it into a cup so you can check it out. BCB

I checked it out over the weekend and I didnt find any water in the fuel. The alarm Im getting is a constant beep. I think read somewhere on this site that a constant beep would be a cooling issue. If so, do you think I need to check the impeller? Any idea why Im seeing water coming out of the tell tale intermittently? Im used to seeing a steady stream all the time, but now I see a nice steady stream for a few minutes then it stops. After a few minutes it starts again. It seemed like I would only get the alarm when the stream stopped, but not 100% sure on that. Thanks. It is an EFI motor.

You should have a competent tech check the heat and oil system. That constant beep is the heat alarm and you could have a sensor or other issue. Though something is triggering the fault.

Those motors have thermostats in them. The efi motors monitor the temp very close to maintain proper fuel air ratio. I would look at replacing them then run for awhile to see if the stream stays steady at operating temp.
