Im watching about 25-30mph winds sleet and lightning all at the same time… I have seen thundersnow before but thundersleet is a first.
Im surprised Vince Miller isnt having a tournament today ! Worse tournament i ever fished it was doing exactly that, thundersleeting on DeGrey, when it got up to the gunnels we went in,,,,nothing to pry our feet against to keep from falling off the deck ! Frank Esry and i,,,,much younger then !
We once netted for sturgeon in thunder sleet!! It was so much fun
Damn. Arky was one of the places was thinking about to move to when the wife retires (Im already done). Just spent all afternoon clearing snow, shoveling roofs, etc. and this was the little storm. The big one comes tomorrow. I want out of here! Snow up over the fenders on the trailer… No way to treat a cat I know. How often do you guys get snow/sleet etc…
Real snow in central arkansas by your standards is 1-2/ year.Im going fishing Sunday regardless.Cmon down brotha!C.O.D. Jr. III
Snows typically not bad here. Like Ward said – we get 1-2 good snow storms and most never top 4″. What you will find out, should you migrate South, we have no real ability to deal with it and noone can drive on it. When its going to come – make sure youve made a grocery run and put on a pot of chili – youll be at the house till it melts. We do have some trucks that will sand the bridges, overpasses, and major throufares – getting to them could be an adventure. Like Ward – I cant remember when one has kept me from going fishing on Saturday or Sunday. Often that will be the best jerkbait bite of the year!
Ive had off road Z-71 Sierras for years so when I hear 4″ of snow and you say you cant travel it sounds kind of funny. Not making fun, just is what we are used to. I can usually get where I need to get as long as there is no more then 18″. After that it gets a little tricky even with a truck. And no, fishing wouldnt exactly come up as something to do unless it involves an ice auger and tip ups…. That is tough now too because unless you got a snowmobile, getting out on the lake is tough. Hmmmm. that is starting to sound like a good idea. Artic Cat has a Pantera model too. Hey, two storms a year aint bad. We had twice that in the last week! And you can fish (from a boat) all year round? Damn. And I bet if you fish mid week you can avoid the crowds too. Will have to schedule a trip out that way to check things out.
they do come and go pretty fast. We get all four seasons.

Thundersleet? I never heard that before. Ive had thudersnow in Pearland since I;ve been here, hail, seen tornadoes from the back porch a little ways away, hurricanes, smoke from Mexico and saltgrass clearing on the coast, 5 month droughts being broken by 4 inches of rain in 30 minutes followed by another 6 over 24 hours, 3 inches of snow on Christmas Day, 110+ degree heat while mowing grass in a long sleeved shirt in July so I could keep the sun off my arms (yeah that was a little warm), iced over roads where cars were spinning and sliding willy-nilly and dudes with big trucks just cruising along carefully in 4wd mode, interstates flooding and making small lakes that people were kayaking on to help rescue folks from being stuck on roofs of 18-wheelers, periods where we got over 22 inches of rain in a 48-hour period, and now three days of low temps in the very low 20s and highs in the low 30s ON THE COAST, BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF THUNDERSLEET BEFORE!!!!If you havent already, start buying lots of ammo, fishing line, fishing baits, fuel storage cans and a fuel depot bunker, big cailber guns, camo gear, and above all, a BassCat, cuz the next ice age is a-comin! Tell the dog! Dont tell the cat, and let it go roam outside when that next big snowstorm is about to hit, and get ready to tell Al Gore that he was right, the climate is changing! Just not in the regulatory-tax supportive direction he wants us to think it is.Fact of note, its snowed enough here to make an accumulation the last two winters in a row, with a third an almost sure probability according to the weather guru on the tv tonight. He just didnt know how much PAST 1-3 inches of snow we were going to get. With that uch sow, Houston pretty much shuts down and kids have a field day! Woo-hoo! Bbbrbrbrrrrrrr!!! Yall folks up North get snow all the time, so your used to it. Yall need to check how MUCH snow is normal vs. what yall are getting this year so far.Thinking ahead, the Missouri, Arkansas, Canadian, and Mississippi river drainage areas with low-lying homes better start stockpiling sandbags. I bet those areas are in for more record-like flooding come spring when all that snow starts melting. Now a lot of that is tongue in cheek, but the bit about the flooding in spring Im basing on past news after record winter snowfalls in the mid-West and Rocky Mountain areas.Your Signature …
