How can I get digital readouts moved from left side of screen to the bottom on 900 series units? Humminbird.com seems to be unavailable at the moment But now it is Monday morning. Still not able to move digital readouts to bottom of screen. But I was wrong about the “DONGLE.” BCB had it on the unit already but I had not pushed the correct buttons (found them by accident, by the way) to get the units to communicate. Still wish I had extensive manual but my HB experience this morning was pretty good. Sorry about the previous rant. A good nightss sleep helped a lot. HB has been really good with support in the past and again today. Last edited by Phil Bangert on July 14th, 2014, 5:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Ive got 898s so probably different. Mine cannot be moved to the bottom………Ive pushed every button known to man. Would be nice to be able to move it. I bought mine used, so the newer models/technology may do it. Good Luck!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Got to select readout. Turn the side read out off and pick the ones you want across the bottom. Good luck with this as HB does have some programming glitches in this area. You may need to ensure the unit has the latest update.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
Dwayne. I can turn them off altogether on the sonar but not the gps. I would just as soon turn COG on gps off but even the readout slot is fixed. My 998c SI has software version 6.42 and the 959ci HD has 6.86. But cannot move them to the bottom. What versions do the new ones have? I will phone HB on Monday for help. I would have been glad to pay for extensive manual but they dont include anything but a starter booklet.
Phil, you should be able to go to their website and download a manual on the computer. Thats how Ive been doing mine………96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
There should be a DVD in the packets from Humminbird that contains the entire manual. Take it to your PC and you can either print the manual or view it on our PC.
BCB, yes you can download the manual and use it in the boat but it is bulky and not in color that the original manuals had been in the past. And most of us do not carry a laptop when out in the boat where the manual would be the most helpful. And HB.com was down yesterday when it was needed. Old guys often like to hold the directions in our hands while working on projects. Heck, we ancients even find newspapers better on newsprint than computer screen. Dont mean to rant but this HB experience has not been positive. Even the ethernet cable from a 998 to a 959 requires a “dongle” which does not come with new 959. Dongle has not been easy to find locally. So units cannot communicate with each other until I get a “dongle” shipped. What kind of nonsense is this anyway?
Welcome to the new world of electronics. We have had similar experiences and opinions with both major brands.
At boot up, place the unit in “Simulation” mode. You can play with the settings and do this in the garage with the laptop and save the settings.Good luck
You cant move the white boxes to the bottom of the screen on either the 900 or 800 series units. I have both. You can remove a few of the boxes in sonar/chart views or turn the side imaging readouts off, which gets rid of the white boxes and puts temp/depth overlay on the bottom left hand side. This only works in full side imaging view. This is a long complained about issue and I wish they could be moved, but so far the option isnt there.
