I finally got around to getting a motor I can get serviced locally. Brian over at River Marine set me up with a pretty good price on a 250 HO. I have a hydraulic jack on the boat so playing with it will be pretty easy, but Ild still like to know what the starting prop pitch and level should be. I can just dial it in there to start with on the trailer, and then adjust on the water to see what it does. Would have gone with the 250 Pro XS for less (since I wouldnt need instruments or controls) but I wanted something I didnt have to drive 180 miles or more to get serviced. Maybe next year Ill get a new trailer.–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com

Ward, dont worry I got your back in October or maybe next month,as far as Phil, if he drives his boat like he drives his truck, my DEAD grandmother can out run him!!!!!!!!!!lol
I run 28p raker II on my 05 cougar with a 225 etec at 5500 rpm. With extra 25 ponies that would be my choice.Have fun.Bob Lipton Performance Props St. Charles MO. 636-949-3121.
Bob, Since you are right at sea level, you may be able to run a Tempest in 26″ or a Fury in 25″. There is a myriad of opinion on wheels for BRP engines and we are very interested to see how your engine performs at Havasu. BCB
I had planned to get some Evirunrude hub kits for my Tempest props. Ive got two right now. Both balanced and polished by The Propellor Company. One is a 25, and the other was changed to a 25.5. Might be a while before I run at Havasu, but after I am comfortable with the motor and setup Ill let you know. Im gonna have some learning to do also. This boat tended to chine walk at about 67-68 MPH with top end at 69.8 before the motor started getting tired. I did get some practice holding it out, but since that was pretty much ideal top end with a light load I didnt get to practice holding with it too much. Usually I just trimmed down slightly and wet out a little more hull. Only made about 1 mph difference, and I still ran 67+. I suspect Ill learn some interesting things about boat driving when I finally get this thing over 70 other than going down river with a tail wind. LOL. The elevation here is only a couple hundred feet, so we should have near ideal oxygen levels, but its starting to get muggy out early this year (most years it doesnt get real humid until mid August) so I suspect I wont even try a top speed run until November or December when it cools off, and the lake lice thin out a little. Probably wont see many top speed runs anyway. I decided to eliminate the hotfoot to make it a little easier to hold a specific speed, and I plan to make this motor last. For me the hotfoot was hard to hold at a specific speed other than WOT on traveling runs. I wont be able to afford a major boating expenditure again for a decade probably. Dropped the boat off yesterday at Kellys place. Keith said he would start de-rigging the Opti this week, and should have the new HO on next week. Hopefully Ill have it ready to go for the next Desert Bass tournament. If not Ill just fish out of The Tin Can.–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
Just picked the boat back up. Dang that was quick huh? Seems like I only dropped it off yesterday. Oh wait… I did. Turns out the motor they were offering me was on their demo motor program, and they cant give me the price they promised and the 5 year extended warranty deal that ends today. I just cant win. I either do without the five year warranty or I buy a different motor for several thousand dollars more. Hysterical Laughter. With my luck there is no way I am going without the extended warranty, and I just cant afford the higher price. I have/had two other things going as options, but I turned them down already because I had actually opted to spend a little more money to try and do business locally. Not sure I can still get those deals anymore. Oh, well. I dont have warm and fuzzies about Mercury, but I may be back to looking at the 250 PRO XS just to be able to keep it in my price range. Darn!Last edited by Bob La Londe on June 30th, 2009, 10:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
Wow……………………a demo evinrude more expensive than a brand new 250 Pro XS. Heck, I would drive halfway across the country as long as I didnt have to buy a Rude. Your gain on this one!!
