It’s time to introduce myself. I just picked up my 2011 Eyra on the weekend and put a few hours and a couple of fish into it over the weekend. It is not the standard Eyra package, as it is sitting on a single axle trailer with a 200 on it. After running it for a weekend, I can honestly say it’s all the boat needs. I purchased the boat from Phil Bangert, who has been a friend and mentor to me since the late 90’s when we started fishing the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship together on Rainy Lake in Northwestern Ontario. Back then he was the only guy running a Cat, but if you go to any of the tournaments in the area now there is an ever growing list of owners. Without a doubt, Phil’s outgoing and helpful nature is the reason there are so many happy owners in this area now. He never pushes someone towards a Cat, he just show’s them the features and lets them decide for themselves. A flat out ride in one never hurt either though! Personally, I live with my wife in Windsor, Ontario, right across the border from Detroit, so the boat will live on St. Clair and Erie. I am an engineer in the auto industry, my background is noise and vibration, but now I am working in the production testing world, primarily engine assembly. That’s all for now, and I know the rules, no pictures, didn’t happen.
