Lost Power on a 1998 Jaguar

While fishing Saturday my 1998 Jaguar had power problems. Cranked fine, trolling motor was fine, but no accessories and the BP 101 dash didnt work. The dash was “stuck” if you will. Even when I wasnt running the dash said 3562RPMs, full trim, crazy readouts. The livewells didnt work, etc. When I cut the master power switch off that didnt effect anything. Dash still had the same crazy readout. Storage compartmnent lights didnt/dont work. Still, cranked fine and had full trolling motor power all day. Checked the starting battery connections and everything looks good and is tight. Any ideas?

What was your Main Battery Voltage reading….If it gets below a certain voltage it will kill power on some Accessories to save power to start…..I dont know about the crazy Tach readings and all of that…Someone more knowledgable than me will chime in I am sure,,,

Finally got around to reading the BP 101 owners manual and it said to check the starting battery and I will do that tonight. That is a easy fix so I hope that is it! Thanks for the reply brnzbaklvr.

It sounds like the circuit breaker is popped on the main 12 gauge harness at the battery post.

Thanks BCB. Is this a in-line fuse or an actual circuit breaker? What exactly should I be looking for?

It is a small black circuit breaker with a depress tab on the end. BCB

Thanks again BCB. Replaced all (2) the black circuit breakers on the positive side of the cranking battery. The BP101 still wont power up. However, the lights are working on the digital swithches on the BP101. I am going to remove the cranking battery tonight and get it load tested and if that isnt the problem it is off to the shop I guess.

It sounds like there is an issue otherwise. It does not sound like voltage if you have over 11.5 volts. BCB

My 99 Jaguar dash acts the same way only sometimes and works great most of the time. What could cause this/ maybe BCBs could explain what to look for to try and fix? jRK55

Moisture. Pull the dash and tighten the screws on the backside that run through the gasket. You may want to consider covering the edges w/ cellophane to keep the moisture out. Dont cover the vent holes on the back though.
