This has probably been covered before. I am wanting to replace the old style, small peanut bulb style lights, in my compartments with some new LEDs. The questions I have are –#1. Can I just cut and reuse the existing wires or would it be better to find where those wire are controlled and tie in there with new wire? #2. Where do the original wire tie into?? — The ACC button or are they wired to a positive wire somewhere and when opened the Mercury switch turns them on?? I also have some small panel under my drivers console that has a power switch and a cigarette lighter socket. Is that just to use the socket? Any help would be greatly appreciated. How do you turn them on?? The lady I bought it from didn’t know and she sold the boat due to her husband passing away. She knew some things about the boat but not much. She didn’t know if there was a security system on it or not. I haven’t switched it to my name yet so I know BC won’t tell the code if there is one.I did forget to mention it is a 08 PumaSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dont have that boat anymore, I have a Caracal. But on that Cougar, since I wired into the existing wires, I just opened the lids and the lights came on, using the mercury switch that was in place with the original lights.

As long as it is on, the lights should come on whenever a lid is opened. I would think an 08 Puma would have a security system and, as you said yourself, BassCat wont give out the sequence on this board. You would have to call with the Hull Identification Number on the back right side of the hull.
