I noticed movement in the hitch this weekend when taking off after I stopped. When I got home I unplugged the lights and backed up and no brakes. Coupler slid all the way back as well. Checked the fluid and its pretty much full. Do I need to bleed the system or does something need to be replaced? Also what is the proper procedure for bleeding the brakes? id start with bleeding the brakes. you can find some good youtube videos on how to do it. mine had a similar issue, bled the brakes and it fixed it

Check the break pads for wear.

Thanks everyone. Checked the brake pads and they look fine. I also checked the fluid again and it is a rusty color. Went ahead and ordered the actuator kit from basscat. Gonna replace all that and put new fluid in then bleed the brakes. Hopefully the calipers are good and this fixes it. Does anyone know what causes the master cylinder to get rust it? Seems odd since its only a 2012 model trailer or is this normal wear and tear?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Moisture absorption from humidity in the master cylinder. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and thus rusts the components.
