float switch guestion

I installed a new float switch for my auto bilge, I can raise the switch up and the ball inside rolls back and turns the pumps on but when I let the switch back down the ball rolls forward but doesnt turn the pumps off. I have to jiggle or bounce the switch to get it to turn the pumps off. Do i have a defective switch. I know its the right switch i got it from BCB and it is exactly like the old one. thanks

It should release if you either fast or slow release it. The ball just rolls for the contact, pretty simple switch.

BCB I put my plug in and put water in the bilge the switch would turn on but wouldnt turn the pumps when the water was gone. I had to bounce it off the bottom of the boat to turn it off. Why wont it turn the pumps off. Thanks for any help.

It must be faulty if nothing is holding it up. Dont run into this one very often, about once ever 15 years.
