Who out there is turning a 27 pitch Fury?

I have a cougar FTD recently repowered with 250 HO. Im limping along right now with my 27 pitch trophy previously strapped to a 225 HO. I think this 250 would sling the ears off the 27 if I would let it. Hole shot is about 2 seconds with feathered breakover and is at rev limit in a flash. I have a 28 trophy on the way, but I really dont think it is going to work either. Im seeing all the good reports on the Fury for the 250s. Any thoughts on a 26 or 27 pitch Fury on a Cougar FTD with a 2011 250 HO with the new gear case? Aslo will the Fury fit on my Evinrude with the same hub kit as the trophy?

I turn a 27 Fury to the rev limiter as my back up on an 09 Puma 250 Pro XS. My main prop is a 28 Bravo 1 XS. Bravo 1 XS is a better prop, more lift and control with great speed. We have a guy down the road with a Skeeter I 22 with a Yamaha 300. He is turning a Bravo 1 XS 27, with no issues and it really moves that big ole boat out!Last edited by barkerg on March 14th, 2011, 4:32 am, edited 1 time in total.

I am turning a 27 on my 08 puma with 250 proxs. I am turning 5850 on my smart craft gauges. Little slow out hole with full tanks and live wells, but best prop for speed. I can almost hit rev with my 26 fury which is now my spare prop. This is not a euro hull for what its worth.

I have a 2007 225HO ETEC on a 1999 Cougar (not FTD) and run a 28pitch Raker II up to 5800 and 74-77mph tourney load.Given a chance and a free wheel, I would love to try a Fury. The trophy just didnt do it for me.Mine seems to want a 3 blade.Good luck,Dan

Right now sir you would be the only person I know of(other than A. Montgomery?) with an SLE unit and a 250HO and a BassCat.Glad to see your holeshot is so good. Certainly an issue with the 250HO and the L2 case when its hot and the boat is loaded.Some of the data you will see on this site is probably from me and my 09 puma ftd and 250HO with a L2 gearcase which is 1.71 versus your 1.85 case of course.I run a worked 25 fury and a 26 raker that is seriously modified.There basically is NO comperative data here regarding that lower unit with that motor and that hull. Me personally Id try whichever you can get your hands on easiest. I would assume that the 27 fury is the best fit of the two furys but the 28 trophy will be the fastestPlease also let us know how the motor performs- top end and such.Last edited by clownshoes on March 15th, 2011, 2:24 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Ward i thought you were getting the new gearcase, or had one already ? I must have been confused , any word on how they are doing ?

Nope hadnt hammered that yet. L2 has been fine for 280 hours on mine.Now the block and the steering tube are a different story. But hey- I have a 2011 motor now and a 2011 midsection!C.O.D. Jr. III

Thanks for the Fury info. Im very interested in the Bravo thread too. Ill let you all know how the 28 trophy does and then move on to the 28 Bravo 1xs or 27 Fury. Lake O is so rough, I really want the boat control Ive had with the trophy on my other cats (jag and cougar). Interesting that one of you thought the trophy would be faster than the Fury. Any additionl info on the Bravo line is appreciated.

The 28 trophy youre buying is faster than the fury that owner uses on his puma ftd and 250proxs.Ive seen it!C.O.D. Jr. III
