spare tire holder

the spare tire for the trailer on my 94 PII, is not held down by anything. it appears that there is just a spindle and the rim sits ontop of that. i know something is missing. i was just looking at some of the boats for sale and in one of the pics, i saw a very similar mounting system, and it appeared that it is a complete hub that holds down the spare tire. is this correct, or am i just not seeing this right?

it might actually be there, but you just dont see it. normally, theres a U-Bolt running under the frame and up thru the rim, then held in place by a couple of lugs on each set of threads. tighten it down to secure spare to trailer. Depends on how it was ordered. There was a “spare hub” option available, otherwise it would have the spare tire tray and U bolt. Newer models sometimes had the spare hub mount separate from the tire.All of mine in the late 80s-90s have had the spare hub, but again, it was an option.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

jignpig; The spare tire assembly is bolted to a spare hub. The spare hub is assembled to a spare spindle. The spare spindle stub is welded to the spare tire frame. (If you ever need a spindle) The hub is greased and ready for use. Its a pretty neet set-up……………….Mike

I have had the spare hub option on all of my trailers. Obviously he doesnt have the spare hub, it has either been put into service or never installed. If it is a used boat, a spare hub may have been used at some point prior to his ownership. But it was an option, and a nice one to have.To get ask about getting a spare hub, send an email to [url=mailto:[email protected]][email protected][/url]. mine is definitely the spare hub option then. is that something i would need to order from bcb or is it something i can get locally?

Someone has removed the hub, exposing the spindle and that is where they just stuck the spare tire. You can get a hub from Parts used probably and the wheel mounts on the lug bolts.

bcb…that is exactly what they did. its just sitting there, with nothing holding it on. ill check with parts tomorrow, thanks a bunch.
