Is the Pantera IV due for an update any time soon? Like was done on the Cougar FTD….Thinking about graphics, storage, ect? Not HP.
Maybe some but it would not be radical I wouldnt think. The Sabre and P IV would seem to be the seniors of the group as far as updates. The P IV has an updated console I believe. BC typically doesnt give out info until the dealers meeting in late summer. That is when the new year models are introduced. Thus, they are in the middle of production year now. It is a very competitive business, any advance details can be picked up and used against them by other manufacturers all trying to get the customers business.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I know that Rick stated that if the sales dont pick up that this model might be on the way out. I bet it cost a lot to do a referb on the molds.
I surely hope that this is not the case if sales are not up. There is not much marketing that goes on with regards to the PIV. I think if the marketing picked up the sales would pick up. Bass Cat really needs a model in this size in its line up. I am not sure how many they have made this year but I know they have made some by looking at there face book photos. I know I love mine. Even though I only have 28 hrs on her.
The PIV is not perfect, BUT its more perfect than anything else in the 19 foot realm. I bought my 09 in Feb 2010, it now has about 160 hours. I made the state team this year for both the BFN and TBF, and have found it to be a great tournament boat. I like the old style bolt better than the new one but at 54 Im getting old as well, and my wife says I would probably benefit from an update. I hope they keep the concept around, whether that grows from the evolution of the PIII to PIV to PV. Im starting to think about a new to me rig and have considered the other brands, but the fishability, speed, and quality of BassCat will keep me driving a BCB, the only question is which model.
I would have to agree with Mike on the scope of a PIV compared to to other brands. The fishability of the boat is what makes it stand out against the rest. I dont fish tournaments anymore, but after years of doing so I want the same thing out of a boat now as I did then. I like the creature comforts, layout, deck space and endless storage that this boat has. I looked at all the Ts, Rs, Ss, Cs, Ns boats and none of them came close to what I wanted in a boat. The PIV had just the right mix in the BCB line up for the way I like to fish today. I like the layout and extra storage compared to the PII but did not need the size class or hp of a Puma. People would be very surprised at how shallow of water a boat this size will draft and how it will take big water as well. I can fish a shallow bay lake on one day and a large reservoir the next with the wind howling without any reservations with this boat. Now that the console has been made to accommodate larger graphs I would say the ice chest is the only thing that may need to be reworked, but if not that wouldnt be a deal breaker for me as far as my next PIV.
Yeah, looking for warts, it sure would be a big plus if BC could do better on the ice chest. Thats a big deal in South Texas.
You buy a BassCat because it is a great boat and unique. They have tons of 204″ boats they need to keep one in the 19 range . Not everyone wants a battleship.golfen
I opted for a new to me PII over the PIV primarily due to the small ice chest in the PIV. I dont fish tournaments but enjoy spending long days on the water (12+ hours when daylight allows) and did not want to carry a seperate ice chest to hold adequate food and drinks. If they did any changes I too think the ice chest needs modifying for the non-tourny guys. If it is strictly for the daylght to 3pm guys then it is probably good enough, but I would bet there are far more “weekend/hobbyist” bass fishermen than tournament minded fishermen.
I love mine; only suggested change is bigger ice chest and relocate the cup holders to beside the seats -Relocated holders would give room for bigger chestNit-pick – the trim on the bilge door cutout came loose about the second week.thanksjwt
