Ive used it in every tankful since day one in my 250 ProXS. Been doing that ever since the stations around here went to ethanol blended gasoline. Before that I used it once a year to decarbon my engine.C.
Have used Sea Foam in many outboards (Pro XS included) and other 2 cycle motors with no issues. Try to put it in every time I fill er up. I think it really helps. Over last two years Ive torn down or helped others fix motors with ethanol issues (who did not use any additive). ….they were not pretty. And expensive to fix.
I used seafoam in my 150 optimax for 8 years and never had a problem, only changed plugs one time in 8 years, keeps the motor clean and stabilizes the fuel! I now use it in my 08 250XS in every tank of gas just like the 150 opti. Here in California, we have had ethanol in fuels for many years and thats why I started using it. I highly reccomend it! The inside of the prop is very clean because of the seafoam.
Is this the SeaFoam that everyone is talking about using? Ive got a 91 Mariner 150 that I would like to keep purring on my kitten. Can you get the stuff at Autozone and places like that, or is it a marine dealer only item? Any help would be appreciated. Thats the stuff! I get mine at Walmart or Auto Zone, depending who has the better price. The stuff is not cheap, but Walmart usually is a few pennies cheaper. Last edited by SenkoSeis on January 29th, 2010, 9:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
The best price we have found in the area is at an Orschelin Farm Store. OReillys sometimes runs a special on Sea Foam, though not frequently and the promotion is regionally based in some Texas and Southern markets. BCB
I use the directions on the can that is enough to maintain cleanliness. 1 onuce per gallon of fuel. If you want to clean out carbon build up then its 2 ounces per gallon of fuel. That is what the can says.
