No Ethanol pumps popping up everywhere

In the Texarkana, Arkansas/Texas area, EZ-Mart on Jefferson Ave. just opened 4 new pumps clearly marked No Ethanol and color coded yellow. Its rumored more around town will follow suit. Chandlers on East 9th and Camp I-30 still carry No Ethanol in town. I was told by one of the local distributors that several vendors are going to add No Ethanol locations due to demand, and the fact the EPA has begun to relax ethanol requirements. And a little competition should drop prices in time. Im one happy camper.

Corn country here and still plenty of that crap a round. I still see mile long trains with black tankers hauling it.

I had a Yamaha HPDI for 4 years before I sold the boat. It never had anything but ethanol fuel in it. The only non-ethanol fuel around hear is premium and one place with 89. Yamaha told me to only run 87 in it so thats what I did. I always ran Ringfree (45 bucks a quart!) and Marine Stabil in every tank . I never had any problems but I wish someone would start selling non-ethanol 87. My new Cat will have a Pro XS 250 on it and Merc also recommends 87 but some say 89 is ok. I dont know whether to run ethanol 87 or non-ethanol 89.

I have always heard that if you use a higher octane fuel than recommended you are wasting money, but if you use a lower octane than called for, you will run the risk of doing serious damage. I had a 2 stroke 150 Suzuki and the owners manual had a warning about using lower than 91 octane fuel. I dont think running 89 octane ethanol free gas where 87 is called for is harmful.
