Who has a Bounce Buster on their trolling motor?

I have one on mine and really do not like it. When I pull the trolling motor up to run to another spot I have slammed it down on my rod handles.. At $150.00 a piece I really dont want to mess them up. They serve as extra protection for the hull in rough water. If you were to see the “G” forces on the head of that troller you would probably reconsider. Not sure how youre breaking rods or how you think you will. Most times the troller wont lock in place if your handles are in the way of the bounce buster. Your call, but Ive been using a bounce buster for 10 years w/ zero rod problems.

I am with Phil on this one. You get in rough water without that bounce buster on there you will see just what the purpose of that thing is. I have had one on my last 2 boats and not sure if I will ever own another one. But if I do, it will have one also. Take Care and Good Luck JW

Did you look at the “Bounce Bumper” located a little farther down on the site page you listed?

I have one and love it! No more trolling motor slamming up and down in rough water.

With the non-20 footers you dont have much room up front there. I put a rod strap on the other side and Im really careful on the TM side with any rods I stow there. I can see not where to put them with the indentation on the carpet from the buster. The bounce buster is well worth it to me even though it is a pain sometimes. Again, the Puma/Cougers dont have nearly the issue.

i have one on my boat and this is the first one i have ever had. took me a little while to remember to slide the rods down a bit further before i strap them down but i will not do without a bounce buster anymore. i love it. in the end it is your choice but i would keep it if it was mine only takes one bad wave to mess up the top cap or the trolling motor head. i have actually seen a trolling motor torn completly off on kentucky lake.

The hiccup is where we place the mounts in a more parallel position to the water, so that the trolling motor shaft is at 90 degrees or so. Most dont worry about shaft angles, and those consequently pick up more grass and ventilate more than do BCB trolling mounts. The trollers all have the wrong angles designed into the shafts, as they tuck back under the bow, and we are trying to correct this, by altering the bow mount angles. This is what causes the clearance issue under the stowed trolling motors. Just an explanation. BCB

The best ive seen so far is the Ram mounts some of the pros have installed on their trollers. a ball is mounted on the inside of the troller mount, and one on the deck, and the ram mount clamps between the two and i dont think a square hit on a wall could break it loose !
