Fury Problems

I purchased a new Fury 25 pitch, being turned with a stock 200HP pushing a Panterra II. I have purchasced 4 seperate Flo TorqII hub kits since the purchase of the prop 11/29/10, The local Mercury rep decided not to warrenty the prop, Discussion with the dealer about the number of hubs Ive gone thru since the purchase of the prop, did not start @ warenty issue untill I was told to purchase a “solid Hub kit” at nearly twice the price of the regular Flo ofTorqII. Today on a local lake crusing at approx. 4000RPMS stepping on the hot foot RPMS increased to nearly 6K with no increase in speed. Pulling the prop after comming off the lake found major scraps on the top of the corners of the Drive Sleeve. The dealer has said that its impossible for the cassting of the prop be off. There has been no damage to the prop. The dealer has acknowledged this. any one have any suggestions?

aditchdoc, We would have it taken to a reputable dealership and the EGT is our concern. We think you melted the hubs from high EGT and the hubs are more durable than this. You know there are hundreds, if not thousands, of Optis on this site with solid plastic hubs on them. They do not have repetitive melt down of the hub kits. We also have a few we can send you if you need some. Though the EGT is our concern and we think yours are high. If you have castings or shreddings of metal coming out the hub we suspect those to be bucket and tuner parts.

BassCat bob with that being said possible excessive exhaust temps causing the plastic hub to get soft, how in the hell do we control exhaust temps to stop this process?

If the engine is operating fine and the temps of the block are not too hot, there is not bucket or exhaust housing damage, then a solid hub will help eliminate you issues.

There is no heating issues with the motor, as stated before the solid hub is what started to slip. The dealer said that this should fix the problem. but with this sloid Hub slipping there has to be a problem with the prop.

Its simple to me. Get another fury from dealer. Test prop. Only way to spin is- bad lower unit gear teeth but u it should crater, bad splines on prop shaft, bad fit prop shaft to hub, bad splines on prop. Run another fury.C.O.D. Jr. III

I bet your Fury problems arent as bad as mine were Friday morning, lol..
