Topic: 12/24 Trolling Motor Wiring

I have a 2000 Sabre with a newer Motor Guide 24 volt hand controlled troling motor. The boat is rigged now with 4 wires coming from the beatteries, 2 positive, 2 negatives up to the plug on the bow. My question is can I change that to where I do the jumper at the batteries and utilize one of the grounds and one of the postives going to the front plug? Is the wiring installed in that boat att he factory thick enough gauge? The reason I ask is Im more famililiar with that set up and Im not sure the previous owner has the plug on the trolling motor wired correctly. I think Im only getting 12 volts to the trolling motor. You can, though there is no reason as the wires are more than large enough to not have line drop in that system. We would use the standard setup to prevent future issues and secondary (3rd, 4th, 5th etc…) ownership understanding. BCB

I would rather use the original set up as well. I cant seem to find a good wiring diagram for the Marinco male plug for the wires going into the trolling motor. Its a 12/24 Marinco plug. The negative wire leading to the trolling motor is in the spot marked (-) negative and the red wire out of the trolling motor is int he spot marked (B+) Positive. There is a spot market (A+) and a spot marked (net). I moved the red wire to the net spot and the trollong motor had no power.The back of the plug is clear and I dont see anything that appears to be a internal jumper so I dont know how the motor is getting 24 volts. When I spin the motor its definently only running at 12 volts. I did find a good diagram for the Marinco plug for the batteries and it id wired correctly and has power from both batteries.
