NAVIONICS or LAKEMASTER????

Hey fellow BCB owners……I just bought the new Helix 10 and need to purchase “the” card that will help me be like Scott Martin (not really). LOL Which one and why?

Depends on where you live and where you fish. HB has a lot more features to use with a Lakemaster chip that dont work with Navionics. However – depending on where you live, Lakemaster may be spotty on maps. In Arkansas – theres little useful on the chip. I use Navionics because they have everything I need. If I lived elsewhere, Lakemaster may be better and Id have new features to play with.

Go to each site and see if they have maps for the lakes you want to fish. Lakemaster on Humminbird units is awesome with the option to use Contour Elite, however they dont support as many lakes as Navionics. I live and fish in Eastern Tennessee, and LakeMaster doesnt cover the lakes I need, so I use Navionics.

Thanks for the response guys….I fish Alabama, Guntersville and Smith mainly but also Pickwick and the Coosa River. I am assuming you cant use the chart feature with Navionics…. ?Last edited by huntan1 on February 17th, 2016, 9:50 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Hunter I have a Lake Master chip that i someone gave me (wont metion any names) of one particular lake (that I am also not supposed to mention), the resolution is unbelievable. This chip was made of this particular lake and is not on the market yet. They are not available on many Arkansas lakes, but I have never laid eyes on one that will touch it.

I run both chips in my units. Why??? Because in the southeast where I live and mainly fish, not all of the lakes on the Tennessee River or within the state of Alabama mapped in HD on the Lakemaster. If not, I switch to the Navionics Maps for information.

I have found Navionics to resemble a coloring book and Lakemaster to resemble a masterpiece on the lakes I fish.
