I want to put a bigger mount at the front of my boat and was thinking of getting the RAM 2.5 mount until I saw the new Ballzout mount. This thing looks like its really put together. My only concern is that it may be too sturdy and wont absorb any shock. What do you guys think? Im running the 1.5″ Ram now and dont like how the ball is starting to get deeply imprinted from the clamp. Here are a few links to the mount. http://web.me.com/jamesha…/BalZout_GPS_Mounts.html http://www.tacklewarehous…unts_/descpage-BALZ.html
The RAM Mounts are rubberized and this wears. They also are expensive. We did see the BallzOut mounts and they obviously are directing marketing to remove the RAM Balls from product and indications that you can run BallzOut with the mount. Only time on the product will tell this and we would be willing to risk that from what we have seen. Though we also are soon going to have more mounting options on the RAM mounting which will give it a different flair.
@waknbass15 – Call Clark Marine in Franklin , TN and ask them about the double mount they have to offer for the graphs . Its pretty cool ,it handled 2 rough days at KY Lake a few weeks ago (very impressive ) , there was a pic on BBC .COM last fall . Hope
BCB, what are some of the mounting options for the RAM that you speak of??? Does BCB see any issues with using the balZout mount?FTDoo7 – I will give them a call if I decide on that mount. I wasnt able to find any pics of the double mount you were talking about…..

A 2.5 inch ball mount like the RAM-D-111U-C can support upto 15lbs. If you need more than that we have an E Series Ball that is 3.38″ and can support 20lbs. Second we offer a lifetime warranty on our parts so if 1.5″ ball you have is damaged you can submit a warranty claim, just follow the steps there and we can get you a replacement. And as far as the Ram Ball being rubber, yes it is and there is a reason, it provides a better mounting than harder materials. You can see this demonstrated in one of our comparison tests videos. If you can provide more details on the type of device you would like to mount I can point you to a specific mounting solution that should work for you.Ram Mount ]1-206-763-8361 / 1-800-497-74798410 Dallas Ave South Seattle, WA 98108Last edited by rammount on May 23rd, 2012, 3:43 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Thanks for the input rammount. I have a question for you. I have a Humminbird 1198 mounted with your RAM-D-111U-C. The unit is mounted just the same as in your demo video. I am a pretty strong guy and even when I tighten the mount as much as I can the mount will still slip when I run in rough waves. Any suggestions to eliminate this?

Any suggestions to eliminate this? @txpuma, we offer the RAM ENLARGED HANDLE-WRENCH Product Number: RAM-KNOB9HU that will allow you to get more leverage on the tightening handle and should solve your problem. If you still have trouble with it snap a few photos of your setup, including the surface of the ball and email them to us so we can try and determine why it is slipping.Ram Mount ]1-206-763-8361 / 1-800-497-74798410 Dallas Ave South Seattle, WA 98108
seems like alot of knobs to turn to make adjustments on the balzout mount though if you dont need to reposition the unit then that wouldnt be a problem. Looks to be well built. I have a 1197 on the big ram mount and have zero issues with it. mine is at the console and I rotate it often to see it from the front as i only have a 2d black and white on the front.
Thanks rammount. Appreciate the support and I will give this a try.Scott
