BCB, just wanted to note that my left marker light (yellow LED, left fender) went out of service and came on and finally went out along with my right fender marker light. My auto bilge system also does not work however the normal bilge will. When I picked up the boat from Sherm he played with the bilge switch and replaced something however the auto bilge is still not working. I would love to run it into Sherm to check out but he is more than 3 hours away. I assume this is covered by warranty, is this right? I was planning on a trip to Sherms late fall for a 997 install (praying) but the marker lights and bilge are pretty important By the way, the first fish I caught was just under 10lbs and 24 inches. What a lake and what bad weather we had while there. It was still better than work though. Here is a pic of “Bertha”
Nice fish Steve.
great fish, Steve. Looks like it was a good trip. did your IM go back to working on BBC?
Come on dude…you are going to post a picture of a fish like that with details about your silly running light and bilge pump???? Give up some details… Lights are easy although the LED shouldnt burn out so first thing I would do is check your connections behind them. Then put a tester to those connectors and see if you have power when your truck lights are on. That is the first step there. Bilge pump…First need to verify that the auto pump works. Turn on the manual and that will help you figure out which one is which. Then go to the other one and see if it is powered to the float. I would almost venture to say there is a worm or something sticking the float, that happens alot. Check the float and use your tester to make sure you have power there when the auto is on at the panel. Then if you do see if you can raise the float and see if you have power to the pump. If you dont have power to the float or the pump then it is something in the panel more than likely. Good luck and give us the rest of the goods on the trip and the fishing. Weather has been bad and I wondered how you were doing. Stumps are near as bad as everyone says as long as you use your head are they? Take care and glad it appears you had a good trip! Judd Lasiter
I have not logged onto the BBC yet due to the IM factor. I saw the post! LOL I caught “Bertha” on a Gloomis MBR 683 rod with Shimano Calais and 25 lb Berkley Big Game on it and a Electric Chicken Basstrix 6″ at Bell Branch. The fishing was rough due to weather but when I got them on it was a great time. My pops only caught two about the size of my Basstrix LOL but he had a good time as well. I will go back there next year if I do not go to Falcon or Amistad or el Salto etc. I ran the Basstrix as slow as it would go while still keeping its form. I had a 1/2 oz 8/0 hook on her and I fought for over a minute to get that hook out of her mouth! The Mustad hooks are just great to say the least. What a fish. I though I hooked a stump! lol The pics do not do her justice. Her tail was bleeding from making the bed and I caught her in 15-18 foot of water. My Basstrix was traveling at a depth of about 5 feet or so. I ran it from the shore line to the 15-18 foot depth I was at. I beleive Bertha came up from next to a tree located in front of me and shge hit that Basstrix hard. i love those baits!
Well she is a beauty…congrats and next time we will have to hook up. If you like swimbaits you should probably go to Amistad, they are catching between 50-100 bass a day right now with the majority of them being 2-5lbs from the sounds of it. If the weather is right they will POUND a swimbait down there…Fork looks like chocolate milk capared to Amistad, it is a beautiful lake. JL
Barney, Thats definitely a fine catch! I bet being with your dad made it extra special. Me, myself, I like fried chicken. Never heard of electric chicken.Post a photo of that bird so the rest of us will know what to order!!!!!!! Glynn
It is a nice fish. The marker light is simple and probably a replacement. The bilge may be a faulty float switch and would be simple also. Call Service on the location of the switch and try hot wiring it by connecting a wire between the two bullet connectors. If the crossing of wires does not work then it is probably something else lime the dash or another connection. Did we say Nice Fish!
Hope you put Bertha back into the lake especially if she was slightly under 24″ that fits the slot for the lake. I am glad you had a great time and on this lake you never know on any given cast what you might catch, last month a lady caught a 13lb. 4 oz. bass off a dock. I was there for the holiday my biggest catch was an 8lb. z. and only caught about 10 fish as the wind was miserable at times but my neighbor nailed a 10lb. 4 oz. & a 9lb. 7oz. bass while crappie fishing, go figure! Found south side of lake dingy and North side pretty clear. There was a question about stumps, there are a ton of stumps and you really need to be on your guard but the fishing is worth the trouble.
Nice fish. Youre probably not as much of a novice as me. But I thought my auto wasnt working until I found out it takes a lot of water in the bilge to kick it on.
