I have just over 10 hours on my new Puma FTD, Yamaha SHO. This boat and motor combination is very impressive. The holeshot with the 27 Yamaha prop that came with the SHO is very good with one person, fuel, and tackle, topspeed was 77.5 @ 5700 rpm. Prop shaft height is 3.5 inches below pad. When I fished my first tournament, 2 guys, lots of tackle, full fuel and livewells, the hole shot was slow, acceptable but a bow high attitude and what I feel was a little too slow. For tournament conditions, I feel this prop has a little too much pitch. The only other prop I had was a new 26 Tempest Plus, I plugged the PVS as the 27 Yamaha has no vent holes. I tested it yesterday with just me, fuel 3/4 full, and all my tackle and was pleased with the results. The hole shot was very quick with a low bow attitude, top speed was 79 @ 6000 rpm. I think it would turn another 50-100 rpms but didnt want to push it over the recommended 6000 rpm, Im sure the limiter would have kicked in, but not sure at what rpm. This prop doesnt have quite as much bow lift at lower rpms, (below 4000 rpm), as the 27 Yamaha. I think it will make a good tournament prop.I am planning to try a 26 Fury and will post the results. The Puma handles and runs great, the layout is perfect for serious tournament fishing, great boat.Tom
