2014 Saber with a 150 Mercury 4 stroke turning 24 p Tempest plus. Top end with two large passengers and light load 63.8. Hole shot is average. Fill livewells and it kills the hole shot. Can I play with the vent plugs on prop without worrying about over revving engine.

Yes, the vent plugs will not change the top end RPMs. The vent plugs only increase venting for an improved hole shot, till you get too much and the blades cavitate.

Thanks, Ill see how opening some up will help. Just wanted to check. I knew opening them up brought my 2 stroke to life.

Wow,,almost 64 with a 4 stroke 150. If that is the norm this is my next engine.

I am very interested in this subject. I have the exact same boat & motor. I am currently in the breakin stage and I am running a 23p Tempest Plus. I want to pick up another prop later once I know for sure where I am at. I am thinking maybe a 24p Tempest Plus or Fury. Anyone have any advice, experience, or suggestions with this combo leter rip!Dan

I am interested in what you are doing with yours to meanv. This is a friend of mines new Sabre and we crappie fish a lot together at Sardis and Enid in MS. The boat has good top end just needs a little more on hole shot. Ill let you know what playing with the plugs will do. It is a fun boat to drive for sure.
