I just ordered my new cougar with the 45” ultrex. I will be fishing Toledo Bend a good bit is that shaft long enough or do I need to change it to the 52”. Thanks.
52 INCH . I installed a new 52 in ultrex last night on my puma . That sucker is HEAVY. I fish Rayburn and T Bend . With my motor guide standard shaft i had to fight it all the time.
Since you fish mostly offshore, assuming you truly do. While 80 to 90% of the time the Ultrex in 45″ is just fine, that other 10-20% will be frustrating trying to hang and listening to the cavitation.

I fish Rayburn and Toledo and I went with the 52 on my Caracal. I always say it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The rod box lid will not open with 52in . Dont know on the 45in . when you have the boat in the garage getting your rods out you will need to raise the mount up a little bit. As for pics I have never posted any. BCB may be able to mount the unit forward enough to clear the lid.
