Ultrex length for Cougar FTD

Im looking at the Ultrex for my 08 Cougar FTD. Should I go with the 48″ or 52″ shaft?

I answered this on the BBC/Basscat board. For others info, the Ultrex comes in a 45 and 52″ shaft. Both will block the rod locker when installed. Use the 52 if you primarily fish windy points or windy conditions, otherwise go with the 45. BTW, the 45″ measures 48″ from top of motor to bottom of head which is probably where you got the 48 from.John

I found myself fishing a bunch more off the back deck in windy conditions and I’ve seen many others do the same thing. It allows you easy coverage and fan casting of an area. When doing so my 250 pound weight definitely raises the bow..glass I have a 52” Ultrex.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I fish team tournaments with live Wells full, gas fairly full, spot lock on and some good wind ,two guys on back deck, you will be very happy with 52. Only place it’s a real hassle is in the shallow weedy stuff then it’s a painSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is a good observation TonkaCat. Im leaning more toward the 52″.
