HelloI am new to the sport of Bass fishing and want to buy a boat of my own. My friend has tracker which i dont like but i am trying to do my due diligence in comparing Bass Cat and Allison and get the real facts and not a sales pitch. I am not sure that i will ever be a tournament fisherman but i do like the idea of a boat that is comfortable, economical to operate, safe, dependable, good quality and costs. I have never owned any boat before so pardon my inexpeirence. I live in Westerly RI and am very close to the ocean and many salt water ponds and would like to know if a bass boat can be used in the ocean, salt ponds and brackish rivers along with the fresh water rivers and lakes i plan to fish at?thanks for your valuable input.Dan Liese
i do like the idea of a boat that is comfortable, economical to operate, safe, dependable, good quality and costs. That pretty much describes Cats.I own a Cat, and have fished out of Allisons. To me, they are aimed at different markets. The Stroker, Bullet, and Allison crowd are more like Ricky Bobbie, and like to go fast. Im old, so comfortable and reliable are more important to me. Plus, for fishing, the interior layout cant be beat on a Cat.As far as salt water, the coastal guys can explain how they maintain their boats far better than me.
If you want to check out a 2008 Cougar I would be happy to give you a ride. I will only have it that close for another 2 weeks before it goes another 3 hours north to stay for the summer…If you want just let me know and we will work it out…
The wiring in a BCB is now tinned copper, so salt water is not an issue. This was a 2010 evolution moving to all tinned wire in 2011.
Dan, If you like to see and ride in my 06 Puma let me know. We could meet up on Watchaug Pond. Im local in West Warwick, RIDave
I never owned a bass boat but had owned a couple of ski boats. first bass boat was (still is) a 04 cougar with 225 Opti Max. I have had it for 4 years now and love it. Never thought I would ever need a 20 ft boat, but cannot ever imagine anything smaller. (I do have a 15 ft alumactraft only to do the stumpy, shallow lakes I cant launch the cat in). I have the cash to get newer boat, but with the exception of wanting a pro XS, I see no need to buy (yet). I have been around other boats now and the cat is far and away the better quality of anything. I manage a helicopter maintenance and completion company and quality and dependebility is first in my book and the cat has it. Service is great too.Only complaint is no local dealer, but with so few problems and great service from the factory, all the dealer is is a place to hang when not fishing.Milton
In my opinion when I picked over a Allison XB-03 I saw alot of similarities. Both brands do things their own way and innovate rather than follow. Both brands have the BEST gel coal in the business, Ally chooses not to use Metal Flake or Poly Flake in their boats, of course BCB has Flake. Ally of course is aimed after the 80+ Crowd that want the Best, BCB is aimed at the guy that has owned several bass boats and other boats in the past, and folks that this is their first boat and definitely first bass boat. BCB is really a Total Performance Bass Boat like their slogan says, now were not just talking speed and performance, were talking fishing performance, comfort, fishability, DRY RIDE, etc, they are Insanely picky and make sure that every detail is covered, sometimes you will have questions to as why this is there or whatever, but thats what this little tool is for, you can jump on here day or night and talk to the factory, sales guys like me, and of course several 100 owners……These guys are the HOTTEST Bass Boat company on the water, literally. If you look around on bassboatcentral.com people are always comparing brands to BCB in some way or another, some are closed minded and talk about goofy details…..If you ever need help with details like colors, performance questions or anything, Im glad to help. Your local BCB dealer can go over pricing etc, but if you need anything post it here and you will have answers in minutes not days. Good luck in your quest. Brannon
Brannon is right on with the forum here. Ive had problems on the water and answers before I got home.

IN my opinion there is no comparison. I always wanted a ranger but did not have the cash for one so I got whay i could afford and that was a tidecraft xvb 150, loved that boat, fished it for 15+ years, I fishe3d with Wayne Crumpton on Ouachita out of A P2 and loved the ride and the ay it was built, this was probably 1994, from then on I knew the next boat would be a BASSCAT, now I have an 07 Puma LOVE IT!!!!!!!!I have fished out of almost all other boats xcept charger.. NO COMPARISON, in my opinion.
