Were headed to the Hot Springs area 11/10/17 through 11/17/17. We will be fishing Lake Ouchita. I havent fished there before so I have a couple questions. What ramps would you suggest? Also, are the boat lanes or hazards marked? We will be staying at South Shore (lake Hamilton) but I think Lake Ouchita will be our focus. Thanks in advance and if anyone sees a maroon and silver Jaguar fishing in a hopeless area you will know who it is and please give us a shout.
We can help some. We would hang, including motel rooms, at the Mountain Harbor area. There are lots of options on help there and several guides handy. Give Chris Elder a call at his business during the week (870-867-3000) and get him to give you some insight. He can point you in the right direction. There are plenty of Bass Cat owners around Ouachita and take your pick on launching. There are dozens who can help.
Thanks BCB
I heard one report last week that the water level was very low. Make sure you have a good map chip and pay attention to shallow water buoys and any humps that are on the mapping as they may be exposed or just under the surface. Should be able to catch a variety of species.
Thank you Jignpig. I do have a good map chip. I appreciate the heads up.
First off at 567 a map card wont keep u outta trouble. Clipped a tree today in 60. U clear between twin creeks to crystal up to about avant. Dont venture far from mid lake lest u wanna make toothpicks with your prop.Secondly- if u wanna dropshot go to southfork around Denby and fish brush in 18-20 with aarons magic worm. Dont drop til u see em. Some good fish on points around housley too. Some smaller schoolers in cedar creek(not fouche) as well.Third- theyre drawing Hamilton down right now. If you will throw traps around shalllow brush you can get right Also if youll run up to 270 bridge and fish up there there will be current and you can catch em. Fish banks. I fished ouachita today but it required pushing my boat over a shoal to get where I wanted to go. We caught em good but u dont need to go where we went. Trees everywhere Id fish hammy- will be easier and quality will be just as good for where u can go.Could call chris Darby for a guide trip too outta mtn harbor

Thank you Clownshoes we will follow your recommendations.
Well I thought I would let you know how our trip to Lake Ouchita went. WOW! You are so blessed to be close to this lake. We had a wonderful time. Fishing was great, a shad spawn sure helped, but even after it ended we were able to find and catch fish. Im adding this area to one of my possible areas to retire in. The fall color was spectacular and its reflection on that clear water was breathtaking. I cant wait until I get to go again. Thanks for all your help.
