Has the owners invitational always been held on Norfork?? And if so would BassCat ever consider another lake or better maybe a series of tournaments divided by region?? Just wanted to throw that out there, I would love to see one here on KY Lake!!
The event was cancelled two years ago and has been in existence for 25 of the last 26 years, all of which have been held on Norfork. They polled participants on Bull Shoals once, Bull and Norfork tied. The poll was tainted as some preferring Bull Shoals inflated the ballots as they were not regulated or controlled. They leaned to Guntersville in 2010, though economic issues lowered ability for assistance. To move the event from Norfork will cost literally tens of thousands of dollars for the company. Thus this decision was to leave it where parts, clothing, service and staff could all do their best part. Motel room requirements for BCB staff and volunteers would range in the 50 a night room accommodations for the event. Varying per night of course building to the final days. They also would require a service bay for working on product and more. The are just a large amount of logistical challenges if the event were ever moved. There are no announcements yet for 2013 and the tentative announcement will follow release of the BASS schedule usually.
I understand it would cost much more for the company but this tournament is for the owners. Guntersville, Kentucky, Pickwick, The Rock, or even Bull Shoals would probably make a better tournament, fish catching that is. Then again it seems like you guys have done a pretty good job so far so I shouldnt complain. Just wanted to see what you guys thought, thanks for the quick reply!! Just for the heck of it have you ever thought about polling your owners for a second time?
There will not be another poll and considerations are ongoing always. What price tag is the cost value to each (1) new boat ownership in 2013 for moving the event. That question is the answer in these economic times. If there are not funds to assist from local CVBs (Convention & Visitors Bureaus) and Chambers of Commerce then to move the tournament would be saddling each consumer with that cost.
NORFORK is the only place to ever have a BCB Owners Tournament- makes more since monetarily, accomodations, etc., than any other place.Participants from the east have been lacking and need to show up at the BIGGIE. The OI has been a tournament where friends reunite and then fish for whatever prizes offered, like any other lake Norfork can be tough, but you can always catch a lot of fish and different varities. My partner this year caught his first smally, walleye, striper and had a ball, besides the lake is beautiful and always a pleasure to fish.If BCB moved the OI to accomodate local areas(fishermen) they would be in a losing situation, after a while the fun of looking out for their customers would be gone.If you have ever attended the OI and gone to the plant on registration day , you would understand that ALL of BCB thoroughly enjoys having you there and is more than pleased to be able to meet you and help with any problems you might have, makes you want to be there all day.my 2c worth, SAMLast edited by SAMRUSH on August 15th, 2012, 8:06 pm, edited 2 times in total.BAYOU BANDIT
Brad,You are always welcome to come the SEBCOG (southeastern basscat owners gathering). Info can be found at http://www.sebcog.comPersonally, I would love to go to the big one in AR. Maybe next year.Carky
Cef,I will check into that for sure I had no idea there were other tourneys on the side. How many boats usually show up? I have been told several hundred fish the Norfork tx.Samrush,Im sure it is pretty cool to be there and I may give it a shot next year. I have been visiting the Mountain Home area every year since I have been a kid and I have caught a blue million trout out of the White and Norfork River. I took a guided trip with Bink on Lake Norfork and we did not catch the monster stripes we had wished for but I was interviewed by a local station giving his weekely fishing report,,haha. I could tell real quick that Norfork was really not my cup of tea, but then again it was July and the fish were a mile deep, does that lake ever get any dirty water in the spring??Brad
Bull shoals would be THE PERFECT location for the Owners T close to Factory , go out of Bull Shoals Marina MUCH Larger Lake, (would not be fishing on top of one another) Lots of pluses
Personally Id rather fish bull….more lake to fish, just as many fish, and I think there would be bigger sacks brought in…but also love to fish norfork and its just tradition to go fish this tournament at norfork each lake has its pros and cons but I would not be disappointed to go to bull haha!!
Next weekend Chaz and I are hosting the First Bass Cat owners tourney on the west coast, out of Russos Marina on the California Delta. Though pre-registrations are small in number the fast few days my phone has been ringing like crazy from owners who say they will attend. With the California economy as it is most of us cannot make it back to Mountain Home so we are gonna do something here. I think Bass Cat should leave the Owners tourney held by them in there home lake for the reason, its home. It is supporting there local economy, there employees and enables those of us who can make it to visit the plant. Even though I havent been able to make it, I dont think Id go if it were held somewhere else. Steve “Gunz” Molina
