Jackplate Gauge and setup

The gauge for my Detwiller jackplate is not functioning. Is there a way to tell if it is the gauge itself or the sending unit?Can anyone recommend a good starting point for an 06 Cougar FTD w/225 ProXS, 26P 4 blade trophy? 2.5″ below pad?? I recently purchased the boat and without the gauge funtioning properly on the jackplate it is tough. Would just like to find a good point to start with.Thanks

We like engine heights around 23 1/2″ to start with and we think its the sending unit also.

I run the same thing. Bass Cats suggestion of 23 1/2″ is real close. As for the gauge or sender, the gauge is just a Mercury Trim gauge. You could try another gauge pretty cheap. I also find the Trophy to be the best all around prop for this hull. The Fury loads on the trailer better but the boat handles better with the Trophy. The Trophy is also just as fast. I run about 74-75 with just me and half tank of fuel.
