My 2005 BCB trailer brakes dont work because of a broken brake line and the trailer slides back an forth at stops and takeoffs. I dont see a hole to plug to immobilize the slide? Is there a way to stop this annoying jolt while Im waiting to get the brakes fixed?
not sure what your trailer tongue looks like, but if it is like my old skeeter and current BCB trailer, there is a key that goes in the slot to prevent the actuator from moving. If you dont have a key, check this out, worked GREAT on my old Skeeter trailer and I carry one as a spare in my BCB incase I ever lose the brakes. For $14 its a great investment. http://www.bassfan.com/reviews_article/ … p6xafkrJMw
Im sorry , but I just dont get it !! — You wouldnt drive your truck without brakes , so why would you chance wrecking both your truck and boat because you couldnt stop it quick enough , should the need arise , due to faulty trailer brakes ??? — By the way , most insurance companies will deny a claim if they find out the trailer brakes were inoperative at the time of an incident . — JUST FIX IT would be my advise . — Just my humble opinion . — Hoss
big catter is correct but I have used 2 nuts and wrapped tape around them to keep the tongue from moving in or out. bleeding that system is not nearly as easy as some would make it sound by the way
i wouldnt drive without brakes either, but in the event you lose breaks before getting home, that magnetic trailer key was pretty awesome. my old Skeeter trailer would never disengage in reverse, no matter how many times the selanoid was replaced or the master cylinder was replaced. I did the old duct tape trick to keep my trailer key in which looked horrible. The magnet was awesome and now I only carry it for emergencies.
Of course BigCatter is correct, but sometimes you have to improvise! Thanks for the “taped nut” idea in the interim!
I would only improvise to get it to a service shop! Dont put it off. That is 3000 lbs waiting for an opportunity. Hello? Ever watch the Allstate “mayhem like me commercials”? IMHO96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

bwp777 actually bleeding the system can be a cakewalk with a transmission funnel and a hand vacuum bleeder. Just cut the tip of the funnel until it fits tight into the cap hole of the master cylinder, fill the funnel with brake fluid, and then use the vacuum pump with catch bottle at each brake caliper, starting at the farthest one from the master cylinder and on the last one keep pulling fluid until its level is just inside of the master cylinder. Pull the funnel and replace the cap. No muss and no fuss.
1stinLA. my brake setup only has 1 nipple of which to bleed the entire system. at first this seems great because it all has to exit at only 1 location. on the other hand it makes it more difficult to get “ALL” the air out or isolate a bad hose, caliper, etc….Ive tried to vac process w/ 1 from Harbour Freight. Wasted money right there. ive tried the screwdriver to manually pump the actuator inside the tongue w/ a hose into a fill bottle partially full of fluid and fill at port on the tongue. everything seems great until I pull it for a while and stop/go a few times than I pull the fill access cap and its low. I will probably take my air compressor and blow to system out completely this winter and start all over.
