Longest rod… I have an 85 Caracal. I just now figured out… that if you shimmy and jimmy it enough you can fit probably up to a 9 foot rod in there. lol. Why a person would need one that long? I have no clue. But if you are patient enough you can fit those 7 footers in there. Without jimmyiing you an fit 6 foot, maybe a 6 foot two long rod in there…Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
Probably 6 1/2 foot rods, MAYBE 7 foot rods. Dbasketman had a Margay, he may be able to help on that. As far as the Trolling motor recess, it is not advisable as you will compromise the upright floatation. If you do insist, you would have to re-fiberglass the floatation chamber to keep it dry. The Margay is a nice boat to scoot around in………96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Dont try to put in a tm basin, too little room up there, and as stated would compromise integrity of cap and floatation. Doubt a 7r will fit, so leave it on the deck ! The Margay is a great boat, and super fun, so enjoy ! D.
Sorry buddy…. Maybe it just wasnt your boat… Things happen for a reason, but we may never know why! I wish you luck in finding another boat!!!Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
