Picked up 2018 Caracal/Sho combo 2 weeks ago.I finally had chance to get it in water today. This thing is AWESOME!!!It is totallly different from the Cougar FTD.Running through pontoon wakes You didnt feel anything.Turns well, motor performed great and got quite a few compliments on it.We saw 5 other Cats on Lay lake today and 2 of them idled over to look it through. Pulling into marina had gentlemen in Ranger z519 come over and ask a few questions about rig.I told him to hop in and I would take him out for a spin and let him take the wheel. He was smiling on the idle back in.Could not get over the Deck space.Only problem I have is I have no power to the Ultrex trolling motor.Where do I begin my search?I have reset Main breaker in back but nothing.Everything else up front is great.Any ideas?
Call dealer. They will get it fixed
We are suspect that the power switch is not turned on, on one of the breakers.
Begin your search in the rigging area. With your voltmeter, be sure that you have 24 (or 36) volts coming off of the two leads to the trolling motor. If not, could be a breaker or jumper problem. If ok, then pull the front bow panel and be sure that you are getting 24 (or 36) volts to the receptacle. If you are getting the proper voltage to the receptacle, then either it is a plug problem, or a TM problem. Did you and/or your dealer not make sure that it was functioning properly before it left the dealership?
I agree with catdude28. Neighbor bought a new Ranger Z21 a few months back. TM didnt work (36v). He asked me to take a look and one of the jumpers between batteries was simply not there. Producing an open circuit. We ran over to oreillys and bought a 12″ jumper cable and he was up and going. My thoughts start with verifying that I have 36v between the two ends of the batteries that are connected directly to the TM wiring. Then check on the TM side of the breaker to make sure it is not bad. Then verify that the TM switch is turned on (on the side of the foot control – amazing how many times people miss that). Id bet this is something simple. BCB seems to use more than one breaker at times, so resetting one might not be enough. Check the jumpers between the batteries to see if they also have a breaker that has tripped.
TWO WEEKS???????????I am glad you like the new rig. I am liking mine. Unfortunately I didnt get you use it last weekend due to a lot of other tasks but it will be on the water Saturday. I actually have a rare trip planned with BR200.
You are trying to run the Ultrex with it deployed — correct. It wont work in the stowed position. Does the green light come on when you turn the trolling motor on?
It is deployed. When I turn power switch up front on,red light comes on heading sensor for few seconds.Hit power button on motor itself and nothing. All breakers are good as are jumpers.Totally lost on this one.
If there is nothing at the power button, I would check the plug for voltage at the trolling motor connections making sure the correct connections were used in the plug at the trolling motor. If voltage is present there, turn the trolling motor on and make sure it maintains the voltage. If it does, there is a problem with the trolling motor. If it doesnt, or if voltage isnt present at the plug, check the other connection and see if voltage is there. If it is, just swap the appropriate wires.John
Thanks for info Mr. Jones and everyone else.Been in contact with MinnKota this morning and They advised me to take to service center.
