I had the driver side domed Basscat decal split and come off my boat and wanted to know what cleaner is reccomended to remove the glue residue off the gelcoat without harming it. I saw the tip somewhere but cant locate it anymore. Thanks for your help.If you cant convince them, confuse them.

WD-40 to remove glue, then wipe down with alcohol before reapplying new decal !

Thanks db. Now all I have to do is order the decals and wait for them to come in.If you cant convince them, confuse them.

Will using a hair dryer assist in the decal removal? Ive got some new decals en route as Im gonna re-do them on my P-III for a different color scheme to give the boat a new look. Appreciate the above tips and any ya got on how to safely remove the old ones!

Hey fishmagnet, I see you are from Tx. so just get on a couple of these S. Tx lakes and get in some of those famous sticker bushes and tree and just fish your way out. By the time you put it on the trailer, The stickers will be gone. LOL pant 2 Bob

Another helpful idea… go to one of the vinyl sign manufacturers locally and buy a small bottle of the stuff they suggest you use to make application easier. You spray this on the hull to wet it where the decal will go, spray it on the back of the decal to completely wet it down, then you can apply the decal gently, slide it around to get it positioned exactly where you want, then a squeegee of some sort to squeeze most of the stuff out. The rest will evaporate… really works well… stuff is alcohol-based…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I used brakleen to wash off the old residue. Worked like a champ.
