I do have a question about my new boat for the folks at BCB. I just got my boat a couple of weeks ago (see recent post). I ordered it with a Lowrance HDS 8 in the console and an HDS 5 at the bow. I also got structure scan. Im just not sure how it all fits together. Are both units hooked to the same transducer? Are there separate transducers for both the structure scan and the regular sonar or does the LSS-2 take care of all of it? There is only one cord running into the structure scan module itself. Is there a separate transducer for the bow unit somewhere in the hull? If they are both running off of the rear transducer I will get a separate one for the trolling motor. And what about linking the two units with ethernet. What does this do for me? I guess in a perfect world I would like a separate transducer for the front unit with the ability to switch to the LSS-2 to see structure scan from the front if I choose, but I dont know how to get there if Im not sure how Im currently rigged or how to verify where Im at. If there is a standard way they rig this setup at the factory, I would appreciate the insight. The electronics were done at the BCB factory, not at the dealer. Thanks for your help!

Ill try and answer some of your questions. Both of your units wont be hooked to the same transducer. You should have a ss transducer mounted on the transom and a regular transducer mounted inside the bilge for regular sonar. These two should provide info for your console unit. Your front units transducer is mounted inside the hull up front. In order to network the units you will need a ethernet cable connected from your ss module to your bow unit. I ordered my Cougar with an HDS 8 in console and a HDS 7 on bow, networked and they have worked flawlessly. I would suggest getting a transducer mounted on the trolling motor and unhook the inhull up front. Hope this helps and I did not confuse even more. Welcome to the family !!!!!!!!!!!!

Got similar setup with a 10 and 8. Jigman pretty much nailed it on setup. Agree with Jigman–I have a transducer on my trollin motor. You will need to hook eathernet to bow unit as mentioned. If I remember right you need to source that (local) transducer instead of network transducer. Also, setup is a PITA to transfer waypoints from console to bow. I think with ethernet they might only transfer at power up, with N2K they update frequently. When you get that licked, keep in mind the distance between he units internal antennas will throw you off. Also, on Gen 1 units the internal antenna only updates @ 1HZ, not sure bout GEN 2. If you install Lowrance antenna near your SS transducer and source that rascal N2k you get 5hz update on GPS. Gives you a consistant boat position to waypoint. Makes for a much improved boat position update on the chart page if your scootin down the lake. Also, seems like when the air is thick with moisture I get a slow update on position. You got a great setup. Leave your rods at home and take your Lowrance operations guide to the lake and learn to use those Lowrance units. One last tip, if you are gonna pull the ethernet cable, keep the thing away from any trolling motor wires or anything else that will induce noise. BCB did my install complete with Ethernet cable, but that was in the build instructions. Great install!!!!
