Rear seat bushing

My rear seat bushing came out with the seat. There was no epoxy or anything glueing it in. What should I put on it when I reinstall it? 2018 Lynx

When mine started doing that I replaced it. They are held in by friction.

The new one was really tight. I used a board to protect it and hammered it in. Be sure to use a 3/4” bit to drill it out a new one or the seat post will get stuck in it.

Agreed! Though i use a 3/4 reamer. It seems to be a better fit. Though this seems odd for that bushen to come out. Those are usually VERY tight. Last one i checked with micrometers was .005″bigger than the hole it goes in.

I think mine came out do to age and the seat post being tight. I think the post would rust some while in it then be hard to get out. I try to keep a very light coat of oil on the post now to help prevent the rust.

We have only had the boat since November of 2016.

Those are a press in bushing and the factory will supply a new one at No Charge of course. The bushings are then driven in and you might have to increase the diameter of the pin hole some when it is driven in. There is a method to the install, though this is the first new boat we have had this issue on in decades we know of. Richard in Parts/Service can assist on how to install the new bushing. There is also a how to on the FAQ section.

I had a post rust in now that was a job to remove
but after I got it out I had cut bushing three ways and pulled it right out
new one went in fairly tight just lightly reamed it to fit post nice snug to finish up ream to much the post will ruin bushing over time

Removal and installation is very simple. Use a hacksaw blade only (wearing gloves) to cut the old bushing in 3 places on the inside and it will come out easily. The bushing is actually mic. out at .007 although a reading of .005 is within the acceptable margin of error to assure proper operation via friction.
