2000 SABRE BYRON VELVICK

My son and I Just purchased our first Bass Cat. It is a 2000 SABRE with a 175 EFI. When we pulled the fishing seat out of one of the compartments we noticed Byron Velvicks name embroidered on the back of it. I have tried researching its significance with no results. I have not found anything else different about this boat other than that seat. does anyone know if there was a Byron Velvick series of boats made or what the significance of this seat might be?

Byron Paul Velvick (born June 24, 1964) is a two-time WON Bass U.S. Open champion fisherman who previously held the BASS record for three-day limit (Apr.13-15, 2000 in Clear Lake California).[1] Velvick spent two years as a commentator for the ESPN2 show BassCenter from 2005 to 2006.[2] He has also been an on-the-water reporter and contributing analyst for ESPN’s fishing coverage.[3]

I can find a lot of info on him. I am just curios as to the significance of his name being embroidered on my seat. It doesn’t appear that BCB produced any sort of a signature series related to him.

You’re welcome, I would like to have been more helpful. I bought a 1988 Sabre last month and didn’t find anything near that interesting!!

Just a thought, you could consider sending him a message through Messenger from his FB page and tell him of your discovery, maybe he would provide some insight.

That would have been one of his personal boats apparently. Byron fished for Bass Cat in the 90’s and sold product for BCB at one time. He was on an early series of “The Bachelor” and has competed at all bass fishing levels with most recent being the MLF Cup events.

I’m not sure about this, but I had a early 90’s PII that I ordered, and at that time BCB embroidered the back of the butt seat with my name. My dealer acted like they did that on all ordered boats if requested. I still have the jacket they gave me too, and it was also embroidered with my name.

They did at one time do embroidery on the seats. In today’s world there got to be many with their names on them and it sort of passed with the seats needing to be on the Boats for resale.
