I am looking to buy my first Bass Cat. I am looking at the Cougar FTD in years 2008-2011. Are there any major changes to how the hulls performs speed wise or handles rough stuff that should make me choice one year over another?

I believe, from 2009 and newer, the hull design had some tweaks which were an improvement.

Based on what I found on this site through searches in 2008 the hull was updated. Then it was updated again in 2009. In 2011 it looks like the consoles were updated. In 2012 the hull was updated again. My main question is were the changes made in 2009 so drastic for speed and handling that I should scratch the 2008 model year from my search? I am not too concerned with looks as I think they all look good.

I dont think the changes were enough to not consider the 2008.

I am currently running a 2008 cougar ftd. 2008 was the first year of the new hull changes and it is a beast. with 2 people tournament loaded I’m averaging 77-80 mph and the fastest I’ve seen is 85 with just me. The rough water ride is amazing as well

it is an attention getter for sure. I love the boat and its been put to the test. Still haven’t got out ran in it
