Trailer paint

I have a 2012 Cougar ftd with gatorhyde on the trailer. Just recently noticed white spots on the top of the C channel on both sides. This seemed to appear over night and the boat is kept in a closed shop. They look like water spots but will not come off. I know I saw a thread few years ago about this and was wondering if anyone ever found out what causes this or how to deal with it? The boat is like new and has less than 150 hours on the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is moisture absorption by the GatorHyde.

PPG built us a new clear urethane to replace GatorHyde and we no longer use the product.

I have a 2014 Bass Cat Eyra which is also kept in a controlled climate that is experiencing the same problem. Is there anything that can be done to reverse this process, or to remove the “milky” white blemishes across the top of the c channel?

So…The only solution would be to have the trailer repainted and if not I guess it is going to continue to get worse with no way to prevent it. Would this be correct?

Ryan2005, How widespread is your gatorhyde moisture intrusion. I just took a heat gun to a portion of the affected area and the “milkiness” disappeared. I wonder if something can be applied over the gatorhyde finish such as a eurethane that will prohibit such intrusion? I get sick every time that I walk by my trailer. The entire process took less than eight hours to get to the condition that it is currently in! I spend as much time cleaning my trailer as I do the boat. I hate to think about having to have the entire trailer prepped and subsequently painted. There’s not a rust spot or stone chip on the trailer.

Mine isn’t terrible as of yet. Probably 8-10 spots on both sides and a few on the tongue. It is very noticeable and it bothers me alot because I am very OCD about my rig. Trailer is in perfect condition other than these spots. I am overly concerned about this problem getting worse. I will give the heat gun a try. Hopefully it works. Thank you for the help.
