1997 Jaguar water in fuel tank ?

I am getting water in the left tank. There seems to be 3 problems. 1 fuel tank is con caved so any water that gets on top stays until it can find a way in. 2 Leaking around the lid. Installed bubble trim and drilled drain hole hopefully that will fix the problem. 3 Latch leaking. going to change it today. Short of changing fuel tank any other suggestions ?

Replacing a seal that has aged and is allowing the water to permeate a sealed tank. This is also a safety concern as the tank is leaking fumes if it’s taking water through the parts or access plate.

Phase separation also is an issue as ethanol fuels reach maximum absorption on water. On older tanks (systems) be sure your running an additive.

I also have a 1997 Jaguar, had the same problem and what I found also was the tank fill cap connection that goes through the top cap to the tank had a gap, put silicon around it and the bottom hose that was connected wasn’t push all the way up and was tilted allowing water in tank. I also had the same problem with tank. Just remove all the top fuel tank parts and check seals, I had to replace my seals, went to local parts store and bought gasket material that was fuel resistant and made my own, worked for me. The tanks are con caved, guess from age.
