I have read several posts about replacement of decals and applying new ones. However, I want to be clear about application of the 3M primer. Do I apply the primer to the sticker or to the boat?
I dont know anything about a 3M Primer. Most Basscat decals all have good adhesive on them.
Make sure the boat surface is clean and free of old reside and the new decal should stick without a problem.
I recently replaced decals on my motor and boat.
Here is a link to the video I did on it.
There are links in the description to a recommended cleaner that is safe on fiberglass.
Clean surface with alcohol and let dry. Apply primer to fiberglass and follow the directions(let it haze over). After sticker is applied clean primer residue off with alcohol. Apply protect sealer. To areas around sticker. Wat i did anyway with success!
The primer works great for surfaces that are not smooth. Really helps.
As in the video, the biggest mistake some get applying decals is not cleaning the surface properly.
Windex works great as it has alcohol and ammonia. This helps remove any oil or wax on the surface.
