Hello all, I currently run a 2001 pantera iii. Iam looking to upgrade and am trying to figure out the deck size difference between the p iii and the cougar ftd. Is there a significant difference? I’m currently looking at a caracal knowing that it has a larger than my piii. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went from a Cougar FTD to a Caracal. Really like the increased width at the bow and through the deck. Everyone who fishes with me comments that it is the most convenient boat that they have ever fished out of as a Co-angler. I fish with a butt seat up front to lean against so the extra width is appreciated. However, for a 200HP rated boat the PII is hard to beat. Lots of room, and really runs like a scared rabbit with the new Merc 4-Stroke 200HP V-8!
I just ordered a caracal after having a p2 but I did it because of a couple of things. Balance issues due to injury and getting older. I need the xtra width. If i had no balance problems I would have kept my p2. I also had a 06 classic for 9 years that I fished out of with no problems. Good luck with your decision.

I went from Puma, to Cougar, to P2. The P2 is a great boat, buy my next one will be the new Classic, simply because of the larger deck. I now prefer the smaller, lighter 200 HP little rockets. My balance is also not what it used to be years ago, and, more room up front will be nice. Going from the Cougar to the P2, felt like almost no difference in the front deck to me, which, was a very pleasant surprise since I ordered the P2 without ever having been in one.
Seeing that chart really demonstrates just how big of a deck the new Classic has. And it’s still pretty nimble.
southern yankee,
I did the same thing and moved from a p2 to the caracal. You will be greatly pleased with the width and it helps tremendously with my balance and I don’t hurt as much at the end of the day.
