took the boat out yesterday trying to get a feel for the jack plate and trim. Had the jp at about 4-5 and trim down take off and boat comes out and starts to plow tried to pick up trim and very slow getting up and it still felt like plowing .. I am new to all of this and realize seat time is probably neede but have run boats before skeet and ranger but this one seems very different any suggestions would be appreciated

What motor and prop are you running? The Lynx behaves a little different from some other boats, how it is loaded is critical. Too much weight in the front will affect how quickly it planes off. If you are running a new Merc 4 stroke or Verado, these motors perform well at higher rpms and a smaller prop such as the Fury 3 24p will work well. My boat runs fairly flat until it gets up on the pad at around 50 mph or so. After that is when it really begins to perform. If you have a hydraulic jackplate raise the motor on take off until it vents and once it breaks over drop the jackplate to make the prop grab. Set the jackplate height watching the water pressure. Basscats do not need a lot of trim to run.

The Lynx runs flat for me till about 50, when the whole boat pops up and the hull is out of the water. The best advice I got from other Lynx owners was to launch with the plate up about two thirds up and then drop it all the way down if I was going to run around 20-40. It runs the best at low speeds with the plate all the way down. Above those speeds I run the Atlas at about 7-9. It took me about 10-15 hours to get used to it, it does run different than my 3 other Cats, as well as the 21TRX I ran in 2017. Once I got used to it, I love it. It flies for such a big boat, rides great and dry, fishes great and responds to the trolling motor instantly. Give it a little time to learn how the hull wants to run.

thanks guy’s for the info will surely try next trip sounds like i was so use to running with nose high and now not so much

Keep the engine lower for performance in the mid range, don’t overtrim the engine and only raise it for hole shot.

Lower engine running, lower trim angle and work your way up slowly on the trim.
